Vodafone has launched its first solar powered handset VF 247 in India. The phone is expected to hit Indian market in next month and will be available at the price of Rs.1500. It is an eco-friendly solar charging handset.
Such phones can be very much useful during frequent power cuts in rural areas. Around eight hours of sunlight would be enough to fully charge the battery. It would offer around 4 hours of talk time and eight days of standby.
Special support of hardware and software that is powered by Sun Boost technology. The VF 247 solar powered phone comes with essential mobile phone features such as FM radio, color screen and a powerful torch light.
Vodafone has 65 % of rural network coverage which is second highest in India. It also has the second largest rural subscriber base in the country. Vodafone Essar, one of India’s leading cellular services providers, has introduced a new handset keeping in mind its rural subscriber base in India.
